Scale model manufacturing
John Glaze has been building scale models of the highest quality for many years, combining his passion for heritage steam with expertise in precision engineering and a meticulous attention to detail.
All the models – including live steam and electric-powered locomotives – are hand-built to order, and based on original technical drawings, general arrangements, frame plans, and other reference material.
They range in scale from table-top models (such as small-scale electric-powered locomotives) up to ⅓ full size (for 4” scale traction engines).
Scales, gauges and sizes
The choice of scale depends on how you would like to use or display the model.
The following are some examples of scales and gauges available:
- 0 gauge – 7mm to 1ft (fine scale)
- 1 gauge – 10mm (or ⅜”) to 1ft
- Garden gauge – 16mm scale
- 3½” gauge – ¾” to 1ft
- 5″ gauge – 1 1/16″ (1.0625″) to 1ft
- 7¼” gauge – 1½” to 1ft
- 9½” gauge – 2” to 1ft.
